Accessibility statement
At Gather, we are committed to creating the best metaverse for all humanity. We realize that to do this, we must design for all users, including those with disabilities and who use assistive technology.
As a start-up with constrained resources, we have been focused on increasing our app’s stability and performance. We are rapidly growing and expanding, and part of that growth includes researching and implementing accessibility best practices. Our initial accessibility testing has incorporated Mac VoiceOver, NVDA, Google Developer Tools, and ARC Toolkit.
We are currently documenting all known accessibility issues and prioritizing fixes for those with the highest impact. Our design team now reviews all components for accessibility as they are developed. We are working toward providing a VPAT on our WCAG 2.1 AA compliance.
To design Spaces that accommodate all users, please review our accessibility best practices documentation for Gather hosts and admins. For the best experience, we recommend using Chrome as the web browser. Chrome now includes a Live Captioning extension that works well for users who are Deaf or have hearing impairments. Designing Spaces with Private Areas using Custom Spawn Locations can work well for users who are blind or have low vision.
We are always open to feedback and specific suggestions. Please review our Product Feedback forum or email support@gather.town if you have any additional tools or workarounds so we can add them to our documentation.
